It’s graduation season, and you know what that means: chaos! During the day, I work my local university. My office organizes and puts on the commencement ceremonies every year, so we’ve been pretty busy lately! Things are getting stressful, but it’s going to be a wonderful day.
Graduation season is one of my favorite times of the year. There’s so much excitement and energy in the air. I love it!
I love it so much that I decided to make a little graduate of my own. Isn’t she adorable? And the best part is that she’s can be customized with your own school colors!



For this pattern, you will need:
- Size D/3.25mm crochet hook
- Worsted- or aran-weight yarn in beige, red, black, and light reddish brown
- Polyester Fiberfill stuffing (available at most craft stores)
- 6mm plastic safety eyes, 2 per doll (you can embroider eyes on if your prefer)
- Black crochet thread or embroidery floss
- Gold crochet thread or embroidery floss

HEAD
Rnd 1) In BEIGE, make a Magic Circle. Ch 1 and work 6 sc in the center of the Magic
Circle. Join to the beginning sc of the round and ch 1. (6)
Rnd 2) sc inc ‐ repeat 6 times. Join and ch 1. (12)
Rnd 3) sc inc, sc ‐ repeat 6 times. Join and ch 1. (18)
Rnds 4‐7) 18 sc. Join and ch 1. (18)
Insert the eyes into the 8th and 12th stitches of round 5, so that there are 3 sc stitches
between the eyes.
Rnd 8) sc dec, sc ‐ repeat 6 times. Join and ch 1. (12)
Carefully stuff the head, but do not overstuff!
Rnd 9) sc dec ‐ repeat 6 times. Join and ch 1. (6)
Rnd 10) 6 sc. Change to BLACK. Join and ch 1. (6)
BODY
Rnd 11) In BLACK, sc inc ‐ repeat 6 times. Join and ch 1. (12)
Rnd 12) 4 sc, sc inc ‐ repeat 2 times, then 2 sc. Join and ch 1. (14)
Rnds 13‐14) 14 sc. Join and ch 1. (14)
Rnd 15) 4 sc, sc inc ‐ repeat 2 times, then sc inc, 3 sc. Join and ch 1.

ARMS (MAKE 2)
Rnd 1) In BEIGE, make a Magic Circle. Ch 1 and work 5 sc in the center of the Magic
Circle. Join to the beginning sc of the round and ch 1. (5)
Rnd 2) 5 sc. Change to BLACK. Join and ch 1. (5)
Rnd 3) In BLACK, 5 sc. Join and ch 1. (5)
Rnd 4) 5 sc. Join and ch 1. (5)
Rnd 5) 5 sc. Join and fasten off.
If desired, you can stuff the arms. If you find it makes them a bit too bulky, leave it out.
HAIR
Rnd 1) In LIGHT REDDISH BROWN, make a Magic Circle. Ch 1 and work 7 sc in the center of the Magic Circle. Join to the beginning sc of the round and ch 1. (7)
Rnd 2) sc inc – repeat 7 times. Join and ch 1. (14)
Rnd 3) sc inc, sc – repeat 7 times. Join and ch 1. (21)
Rnds 4-6) 21 sc. Join and ch 1. (21)
At this point, you will be working back and forth, creating an opening for the doll’s face.
Rows 7-11) 12 sc. Ch 1 and turn. (12)
Row 12) 4 sc up the side, sl st, hdc, 2 dc inc, 2 hdc, 5 sc, 4 sc down the other side. Join and fasten off. (21)
Use the tail ends of the yarn and a yarn needle to carefully sew the hair piece onto
the doll’s head. Weave in ends.
STOLE
Row 1) In RED, ch 20. Starting in the 2nd chain space from the hook, 2 sl st, 15 sc, 2 sl st. Fasten off. (19)
CAP – BASE
Rnd 1) In BLACK, make a Magic Circle. Ch 1 and work 6 sc in the center of the Magic Circle. Join to the beginning sc of the round and ch 1. (6)
Rnd 2) sc inc – repeat 6 times. Join and ch 1. (12)
Rnd 3) sc inc, sc – repeat 6 times. Join and ch 1. (18)
Rnd 4) sc inc, 8 sc – repeat 2 times. Join and fasten off. (20)
CAP – TOP
Row 1) In BLACK, ch 11. Starting in the 2nd chain space from the hook, 10 sc. Turn and ch 1. (10)
Rows 2-9) 10 sc. Turn and ch 1. (10)
Row 10) 10 sc. Ch 1. (10)
To finish, sc around the square. Fasten off.
FINISHING STEPS
Use the tail end of the yarn and a yarn needle to sew closed the opening at the base of
the body.
Use the tail ends of the yarn and a yarn needle to carefully sew the arms onto the body
between rounds 11 and 12.
Sew the Cap Base piece to the top of the doll’s head. Then sew the Cap Top piece on top of that. You can place it slightly off-center if you like to give it a little bit of a tilt. Weave in ends.
Use a strand of GOLD embroidery floss or crochet thread to sew on a tassel.
Use a strand of LIGHT REDDISH BROWN yarn and a yarn needle to embroider on eyebrows.
Use a strand of BLACK embroidery floss or crochet thread and a yarn needle to embroider on eyelashes.
Weave in all ends.
