Happy International Women’s Day!
There are lots of ways you can participate, and I encourage everyone to check out the International Women’s Day website. Their message to us all:
For International Women’s Day 2017, we’re asking you to #BeBoldForChange.
Call on the masses or call on yourself to help forge a better working world- a more inclusive, gender equal world. – International Women’s Day
From their website, you can find all kinds of great resources and find events in your area. It’s definitely worth a look!
My inner activist is quite new and shiny, and as such there are so many events and causes I have only recently realized existed–and International Women’s Day is one of those events.
As part of my own Women’s Day celebration, I have made a couple of Mini Activist dolls for some of the women who continue to inspire me on a daily basis.

I’ve also made them some mini march signs! The Women’s March and the upcoming March for Science hold special places in my heart, so the signs I’ve made highlight those two events.

You can download the PDF with all of the signs here.
The signs are designed to be fold in half; the front half contains the sign image, while the back half is a plain white rectangle.
Here’s how you can put together your mini protest signs:
- Cut out the signs you wish to use, then fold along the center gray line.
- Flip the signs over. Place a piece of double-sided tape along the back side of the sign.
- Place a toothpick on the tape. Make sure you don’t put it on upside down!
- Fold the other half of the sign back over the toothpick, pressing firmly on the tape.
And there you go!
These signs are the perfect addition for your mini activist dolls.
When I made my first activist doll, one of my coworkers suggested that I make her a little protest sign. For International Women’s Day, I have made her a mini activist doll (with sign!) for her very own, made to look like her. She inspires me every day with her creativity, her strength, and her incredible work ethic. I’m off to go deliver her doll now!
I’ve also made another doll for one of my dearest friends. She’s helped me to discover who I am as a human being outside of any label. She is one of the most loving, supportive and enduring souls I have met. I’m lucky enough to see her later today, so I will be delivering her little activist doll then.
There is so much love and light in this world, and we must to see it, to seek it, and be it.
Happy International Women’s Day, and remember: #beboldforchange!
