Uterus Amigurumi

There’s no other way to really put this: this is a pattern for a crocheted uterus, because #craftivism matters.

You can make this uterus with or without a face, with or without a smile–whatever your preference!

Materials

Size F/3.75mm crochet hook
6mm safety eyes, black
Embroidery floss, red
Embroidery floss or crochet thread, black
Yarn in pink and white
Pipe cleaner (optional, but it helps with the structure)

Pattern – Uterus

Rnd 1) With pink yarn, make a Magic Circle, ch 1. 8 sc in the Magic Circle. Do not join, but continue in the round each row. (8)

Rnd 2) sc inc – repeat 8 times. (16)

Rnd 3) sc inc, sc – repeat 8 times. (24)

Rnd 4) sc inc, 2sc – repeat 8 times. (32)

Rnd 5) sc inc, 6 sc, sc inc – repeat 4 times. (40)

Rnd 6) 40 sc. (40)

Rnd 7) In BACK LOOPS ONLY, 40 sc. (40)

Rnd 8) In BOTH LOOPS, 40 sc. (40)

Rnds 9-10) 40 sc. (40)

Rnd 11) sc dec, 18 sc – repeat 2 times. (38)

Rnd 12) sc dec, 17 sc – repeat 2 times. (36)

Rnd 13) sc dec, 16 sc – repeat 2 times. (34)

Rnds 14-17) 34 sc. (34)

Rnd 18) sc dec, 15 sc – repeat 2 times. (32)

Rnds 19-20) 32 sc. (32)

At this time, insert your safety eyes into rnd 13, placing them 6 full spaces apart. You can also embroider on the rest of the face details if you prefer.

Carefully insert the stuffing, but do not over-stuff.

Rnd 21) sc dec, 2 sc – repeat 8 times. (24)

Rnd 22) sc dec, sc – repeat 8 times. (16)

Rnd 23) sc dec – repeat 8 times. (8)

Rnd 24) sc dec – repeat 4 times. (4)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Use the tail end of the yarn and a yarn needle to sew the bottom closed. Weave in ends.

Pattern – Fallopian Tubes (Make 2)

Rnd 1) With pink yarn, ch 6. Join to the first ch with a slip stitch and ch 1. From this point forward, do not join at the end of each round.

Rnds 2-18) 6 sc. (6)

Do not fasten off.

Begin Ovaries.

Pattern – Ovaries (Continued from Fallopian Tubes)

Rnd 1) Insert your hook into the front loop of rnd 18 of the fallopian tube. In FRONT LOOPS ONLY, ch 1, then 6 sc. (6)

Rnds 2-3) 6 sc. (6)

Rnd 4) sc dec – repeat 3 times. (3)

Fasten off. Use tail end of white yarn and a yarn needle to sew the end closed. Weave in ends.

Return to Fallopian Tube.

Pattern – Fallopian Tubes (Continued)

Continue from the end of rnd 18 of the Fallopian Tube. Remember that pink yarn that you didn’t fasten off? Use it to ch 1 and begin rnd 19.

Rnd 19) 6 sc. (6)

Rnd 20) In BACK LOOPS ONLY, sc, ch, sl st in next space – repeat 3 times. (6)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Repeat for Fallopian Tube #2.

Assembly

Before you attach the Fallopian Tubes to the Uterus, insert the pipe cleaner through the Uterus at the very top-center (along the flat part). Pull the pipe cleaner through evenly so that an equal amount of pipe cleaner extends on either side of the Uterus (where the Fallopian Tubes will be).

Insert each end of the pipe cleaner into a Fallopian Tube. The pipe cleaner will help firm up the Fallopian Tubes so that they can keep their shape.

Use the tail ends of the pink yarn of the Fallopian Tubes and a yarn needle to sew them to the top of the Uterus where the pipe cleaner ends emerged. If desired, use the tail ends of the yarn (or another strand of yarn) and a yarn needle to strengthen up your stitches at the top edge of the Fallopian Tubes. This helps the tops of the tubes to “stand up” a little bit more, which is further helped with the pipe cleaner.

Using the long tail from rnd 20 of the Fallopian Tube and a yarn needle, loosly sew the end to rnd 13 of the Uterus.

And there you have it! One adorable and strong uterus, ready to adorn your bookshelf, desk, or anywhere else you can think of. Isn’t she great?
